After my final year of MBBS exam, I attended a three-day Rural Sensitization Program (RSP) in Sittlingi that profoundly impacted my perspective on healthcare. Unlike the doctors I met in college, those at Sittlingi were uniquely dedicated, humble, and passionate about their work in rural areas. Their commitment inspired me to rethink the role of a doctor and sparked my interest in the Travel Fellowship program. I'm eager to meet more dedicated professionals like them through the fellowship and learn from their valuable experiences.
Healthcare inequality is a pressing concern for me, particularly the unfair link between financial status and access to quality care. I'm driven to help create a more equitable system, and I believe the fellowship will empower me to make a meaningful impact.

"Life's best moments are born from bold steps. Life begins where fear ends."
Back in 2022, while attending the RSP at BHS Udaipur, I first heard about the Travel Fellowship — and the idea instantly intrigued me. Ever since, it lingered at the back of my mind. When my internship ended, I found myself at a crossroads: should I dive straight into PG prep, or listen to my heart? And now, here I am — part of Batch 6 of the Travel Fellows, living that very dream.
This journey has been eye-opening — meeting people from diverse walks of life and exploring healthcare through new perspectives has been exactly the reset I needed as an MBBS graduate.
When I’m not working, you’ll probably find me curled up in bed with a show, catching up on sleep, or simply gazing at the sky, lost in thought.

Beyond medicine, I am deeply interested in research, public health, and policy. My early clinical work made me question why care remains out of reach for many, and whether those who receive it are truly satisfied. Choosing public health over conventional clinical medicine came from a quiet conviction to work where I am needed most.
Research has taken me to diverse places across India and abroad, connecting me with inspiring people in hospitals, ministries, and communities. Yet, my most meaningful lessons have come from conversations in rural areas, where people’s strength and simplicity remind me what healthcare should truly be about. I want my work to stay rooted in their lives, not just in reports or policies.
Through the fellowship, I hope to understand the true meaning of holistic health and how communities can become self-sustainable. At the same time, I wish to understand myself beyond my profession.
I love travelling, food, music, and bringing people together. The humour and warmth in shared moments keep me grounded.

“Real change begins when we listen—not just to data, but to people.”
I'm Srinidhi V Prabhu, recently graduated from BMCRI, Bangalore.
I believe that much of our lives are shaped by expectations either from family, society, or the system we grow up in. Often, we keep running without pausing to ask if the path we’re on is truly ours. Even the status quo of our education facilitates the unhealthy never-ending race of collecting degrees (like a trophy for the race we never signed up for) where the deeper purpose of becoming a doctor quietly fades away.
In my journey, the pivotal point was realising the true essence of being a doctor, to look beyond disease and to understand and address the socio-economic and cultural roots of health.
Through this fellowship, I hope to unlearn, learn and understand health in its truest sense, not just as medicine, but as life itself. This is not a detour from medicine. This is the medicine I signed up to practice. I see this journey as a sacred pilgrimage of self-discovery — to find not only answers, but better questions about life, work, and everything in between. This isn’t a detour from medicine; this is the medicine I signed up to practice.
